You can get insurances from a variety of companies however did you also know that your credit card might give you insurance? Here is what you need to know.
If you are making purchases on your card, you should be taking advantage of some of these perks, consumer reporting agency Experian says.
- Purchase Protection: If an item you have bought is damaged, stolen, or lost, you need to make a claim with the police or an insurance company first.
- Extended Warranty: If an item is out of its manufacturer warranty and the item breaks, some cards will cover the cost.
- Price Protection: If you have bought an item and found that it is cheaper elsewhere your card provider might refund the price difference. Coverage varies; check with your credit card company first.

They can also help when you are traveling, by covering:
- Baggage Delay: If you arrive at your destination however your luggage doesn’t can be a nightmare, this would cover any essentials you buy before you are reunited with your items.
- Trip Cancellation: When your travel is out of your control and is canceled if you paid using a credit card, you could be covered. Some will even cover COVID-19 cancellations, but you’d want to check with your credit card company first.
“If your credit card offers insurance policies, read your cardholder agreement carefully to understand what is covered by the insurance and what isn’t,” Experian adds. “Most policies have exclusions and limitations on coverage.”
