Do you want to go on a quick weekend getaway without depleting our bank account? Here are a few tips from TransUnion that can help you get away, have fun, and regenerate your mind and soul.

First, you should establish a budget and adhere to it.

Price out your travel and accommodations, also don’t forget to include your meals and any entertainment or excursions you would like to do.

If you find that a particular restaurant is a little pricier than what you anticipated, a suggestion is to consider ordering an appetizer rather than an entree.

Also, look for free or special events to do in the area you are visiting or simply bring a book with you and enjoy the sunshine or indoors.

Another tip is to look and see if the area you are visiting has an off-season; and if so, plan your trip during that time.

If flying to your destination is in your plans, try avoiding the summer and holiday times as flights are historically more expensive during these times.

Also, if the flight is less than two hours, you may want to consider doing a road trip instead.

Don’t forget to look for coupons or rewards on your credit cards to get discounts on items ranging from travel to accommodations to meals.

By doing a little bit of budgeting and planning, you can have a very enjoyable and affordable weekend.
