You’ve just entered the workforce, what should you do next? Start planning for your retirement! 

As strange as that sounds, and whether or not you have been working for years, you should be planning for the day of your retirement. But where do you start?

The person who can assist you with your retirement is a financial planner. Of course, the earlier you start planning for your retirement, the better. Even if you start later in life, you may qualify for catch-up contributions, too!

What factors should you consider when figuring out the amount of money you will need to retire? Consumer credit reporting agency, TransUnion says, debt is one factor. The less you owe at the time of your retirement, the farther your retirement dollar will go. 

At what age you want to retire is another determining factor, as well as long-term and assisted living should be considered.

In many cases, Social Security benefits do not provide for the standard of living that you are accustomed to during your working years. Therefore, saving for retirement by taking advantage of your employer-sponsored plans, such as a 401(k), or Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) are something to consider.
